Kalki 2898 AD is a Rs. 600 Cr. mythology-based sci-fi action, that is all set to release in theaters on June 27, 2024 i.e. tomorrow. The movie starring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan in the lead is centered around the birth of Kalki, Lord Vishnu's 10th and final avatar in the actual Kali Yuga mentioned in Hindu scriptures.

What is Kalki 2898 AD story?

In an interpreted dystopian 2898 AD, the human demography is spread across three geographies - Kasi the last city of this world, Complex - the inverted pyramid structure where villains thrive, and Shambala, the home of the rebels. 

While Kasi is based on the real life Kasi, except with a dried up Ganges river in Kalki 2898 AD, the Complex is an interpreted form of the citadel demon Kali retreats to, in the capital city of Vishasha, after facing defeat according to Hindu scripts. Supreme Yaskin (Kamal Haasan) plays the interpreted version of demon Kali, who isn't dead but has lost his mortal physical form. 

Fertile women are targeted in Supreme Yaskin's world, and fetuses are harvested by his authoritarian state to make life-extending serum for him. How Sumathi aka SUM-80 (Deepika Padukone), carries her pregnancy in this dystopian world to give birth to Kalki is what forms the rest of the story.  

Bhairava (Prabhas), a bounty hunter in Kalki 2898 AD is after SUM-80, to gain points for a taste of life in the resource-rich complex. Ashwatthama (Amitabh Bachchan), a mighty warrior with super-human abilities from the Mahabharata lore , plays the protector of SUM-80.
