While it wasn't exactly news, actor Vijay's official announcement that he is indeed quitting the movies post his last two projects has left fans who enjoy him on the big screen, disappointed. Vijay's adieu to Tamil cinema comes in lieu of his long anticipated political entry, and the actor is currently making all the moves to contest in the 2026 Tamil Nadu legislative Assembly elections.
Vijay who currently also adorns the hat of Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam political party's leader, however will be seen in two last films titled The Greatest of All Time aka The GOAT and Thalapathy 69 (tentative title). Here is all you need to know about these movies:
1. Thalapathy 69 (Working Title)
Actor Vijay has confirmed that he has already agreed to do Thalapathy 69 with a production house and buzz has it that Telugu banner DVV Entertainment, known for making the world famous RRR (2022), will be bankrolling Vijay's last project. Previously MovieCrow had reported that Vijay has already listened to scripts from two different Telugu directors but no one has been finalized for Thalapathy 69 yet.
In Kollywood, several directors' names like Atlee, Nelson Dilipkumar, Karthik Subbaraj and H. Vinoth have been linked to Thalapathy 69. Sun Pictures production banner has also been linked to the project and only an official announcement can confirm which of these names are on Thalapathy 69.
Thalapathy 69 is most likely expected to be a political subject, given that it will be Vijay's last film before the actor's first official dip in politics.
2. The Greatest of All Time (The GOAT)
The Greatest of All Time aka The GOAT is a multi-starrer sci-fi action film written and directed by Venkat Prabhu. The GOAT is Vijay's penultimate 68th project, and is currently in filming stage. Vijay stars in dual roles in the AGS Production venture, and the promotional material released so far indicates an Expendables-type ensemble action thriller.
