Lal Salaam: Rajinikanth as Moideen Bhai is here with some Diwali wisdom!

PUBLISHED DATE | 12/Nov/2023

Lal Salaam starring Rajinikanth in a special appearance had its first teaser release today, and the 'Superstar' as Moideen Bhai has arrived with the much needed words of wisdom in a highly politicized religion-frenzy India. Lal Salaam is a Tamil film written and directed by Rajini's filmmaker daughter Aishwarya Rajinikanth. The movie stars lead actors Vishnu Vishal, Vikrant as cricketers belonging to the Hindu and Muslim religions.

As the film's title suggests the movie comes with a communism paint, and Moideen Bhai presumed to be a Muslim communist is seen calling out the mixing of a sports like cricket with religious divide, and poisoning the minds of youngsters. [An act that was witnessed even as recently as the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023].

In Tamil Nadu, division on the basis of Hindi-Muslim religion is non-existent compared to the rest of India. The ruling right i.e. BJP-RSS which does its politics based on extreme Hinduism has also never been able to gain power in this South Indian state. Rajinikanth, who is a pious Hindu has often been antagonized in Tamil Nadu because of his BJP leanings.

Lal Salaam teaser dropping on Diwali day, which is the biggest Hindu festival in India, with Rajini playing a Muslim character preaching liberal values, has to be the biggest hit the face of anyone who's tried boxing the Superstar in a monotone saffron colour.

A Lyca Productions venture, Lal Salaam titled after the South Asian communist chant is scheduled to release in theaters for Pongal, 2024 i.e. January next year. The movie has AR Rahman for music, and also stars Senthil, Jeevitha, Thambi Ramaiah, Ananthika Sanilkumar, Vivek Prasanna, Thangadurai and cricketer Kapil Dev in a cameo.
