November 9, 2023 - November 14, 2023 marks the Diwali holiday season in India, and quite a few movies have reserved this slot to release in theaters. In Tamil, actor Karthi starrer Japan helmed by writer, director Raju Murugan is one of the biggest releases this Diwali 2023. Releasing alongside this Dream Warrior Pictures production, is Karthik Subbaraj's period action comedy Jigarthanda Double X.
Starring Raghava Lawrence, SJ Suryah in the lead, Jigarthanda Double X, also known as Jigarthanda 2 is a spiritual sequel to its hit prequel Jigarthanda (2014); The franchise's troupe revolves around a filmmaker and dreaded gangster collaborating to make a film. Five Star Creations producer S. Kathiresan and music composer Santhosh Narayanan have teamed up with Karthik Subbaraj for this Jigarthanda reunion.

Tamil movies releasing this Diwali 2023 also includes Vikram Prabhu starrer Raid. A remake of the 2018 Kannada movie Tagaru starring Shivarajkumar, Raid is an action thriller directed by Karthi in Tamil. Director Muthaiya has written dialogues for the film and it has Sri Divya playing female lead, Sam CS for music.
