Rajinikanth starrer Jailer is all set to release in theaters tomorrow in Tamil and multiple dubbed languages, and it is a big release from Kollywood in recent times. The movie is Rajinikanth's first film in the last 1 year and 8 months and a SWOT analysis of Jailer follows: 

Strengths

• Rajinikanth has graced the silver screen for 48 years now, and the ability to pull theatrical audience playing main commercial lead at 72 is his biggest strength. Brand 'Rajini' and the constant chatter surrounding it, is the biggest strength for film Jailer as well.

• Production house Sun Pictures, director Nelson Dilipkumar and actor Rajinikanth are all making a comeback after stumbling to impress their audience last time. Despite the same Jailer has generated enough buzz and anticipation, thanks to good marketing strategies like the viral bops - Kaavaalaa, Hukum and events like Jailer audio launch. Jailer Showcase (trailer of the film) has also enticed the audience enough and made the movie look more than promising. 

• Be it Anirudh's music or Vijay Karthik Kannan's cinematography, Tamannaah's dance, actor Vinayakan's villainous character or cameos by Mohanlal, Shivarajkumar, Jackie Shroff, Rajinikanth playing an unusually fresh black comedy lead or his onscreen reunion with Ramya Krishnan - Jailer checks all the boxes for luring the commercial cine audience this weekend/Independence day holiday.

Weakness

• Jailer is a regional film and the amount of interest surrounding a Rajinikanth film release is not necessarily shared beyond a particular group of audience or geographical point. This is despite Jailer tickets sales surpassing that of other Indian movies that are coming out this weekend. 

• Jailer is a black-comedy action movie that doesn't have as much pull with the family audience, as it does with the current generation. 

Opportunities

• Jailer is headed for a grand opening, that only big movies with the right buzz get to enjoy with the Tamil/Indian audience. In regions like Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, USA and some parts of Kerala and Telugu states, tickets from advance bookings are selling out at lightning speed. Jailer is also ensured the widest release possible in Tamil Nadu without any box-office competition. Ample opportunity for the movie to turn into a blockbuster success. 

Threats

• Jailer is releasing during a working weekend and the Independence day holiday also falls on the following Tuesday with a working Monday in between.

• In Tamil Nadu, the film premieres only at 9:00 AM IST where as in other Indian regions and USA it premieres at 6:00 AM IST. A lot rides on the initial word of mouth as a result. 

• The movie's runtime is a whole 2 hours 45 minutes.
