Thalaivar 170 (tentative title) is one of Rajini's upcoming projects which was officially announced in March this year. A production venture of Lyca Productions, the movie is set to be directed by TJ Gnanavel, with Anirudh for music. Based on true events, Thalaivar 170 is said to also star Bollywood veteran Amitabh Bachchan in a parallel lead role, with Rajinikanth playing a Muslim police officer. 

Latest news on this project is that Telugu actor Nani has been approached to play an important role, and the Shyam Singha Roy star is said to have liked the narration. However it remains to be seen if Nani comes on board Thalaivar 170, which is Rajini's next after Jailer (releasing August 10) and Lal Salaam, which is currently under production.
