One of actor's Rajinikanth's upcoming movies is Lal Salaam, which is written and directed by Rajini's director-daughter Aishwarya Rajinikanth. The Superstar plays an extended cameo in this movie, which has cricket and communist elements to it.

The latest update about the film is that, the team has completed a schedule in Pondicherry, and with this most of the scenes involving Rajini has been shot. The team may or may not shoot some patch work with Rajinikanth in the final schedule. Filming of Lal Salaam will resume next in July 2023. 

Lal Salaam backed by Lyca Productions also stars Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth in lead roles. The movie has music by AR Rahman.
