One of the two important epics of the Hindu religion is the Ramayana, and the Valmiki-ascribed Sanskrit book narrates the life of lord Ram, a legendary Ayodhya prince who was forced into fourteen-year exile along with his wife Sita and brother Lakshman. The kidnapping of Sita by Ravan, the king of Lanka, its resulting war, and lord Ram's eventual return to Ayodhya as King is a famed tale known to have been recorded in text between 7th to 3rd century CE. [This is just the traditional version of Ramayana popular in North India; In South India, particularly in Tamil Nadu references to Lord Ram's tale and Ravanan's famed devotion to Lord Shiva can be found in Tamil literatures dating before CE i.e. the Common Era]. 

This story has been adapted into a movie titled Adipurush, and actor Prabhas plays Raghava aka Lord Ram. Written and directed by Om Raut, Adipurush also stars Kriti Sanon as Janaki aka Sita, Sai Ali Khan as Ravana, Sunny Singh as Lakshmana, Devdatta Nage as Hanuman among others. 

Adipurush is scheduled to release in theaters worlwide on June 16, 2023. The film's highly anticiapated trailer is out now in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil (dubbed), Kannada (dubbed) and Malayalam (dubbed) languages. Adipurush is jointly produced by T Series Films and Retrophiles. The movie has Ajay-Atul for music, Karthik Palanai for cinematography and comes with a runtime of 174 minutes i.e. 2 hours 54 minutes.
