Director Bhaskar was a rising name in the Telugu film industry in early 2000s. He earned a National award for Best screenplay with his very first outing Bommarillu (2006) which was a phenomenal hit, he followed it up with Parugu (2008) which also did well, and then in 2010 came Orange starring Ram Charan in the lead. 

Orange album was a viral musical hit, thanks to the compositions by Harris Jayaraj. and Bhaskar was bringing back his Bommarillu heroine Genelia D'Souza in the movie. Needless to say the expectations were sky-high. Orange is considered today to be a 'disruptor' in how quintessential romance movies were presented in South Indian cinema. But back in 2010, the movie was a box-office disaster mainly due to the film's practical thoughts, that took time for the viewers to grapple.

Today the subject of love and contemporary relationships have been exposed enough (both in movies and real life) for Orange to make much more sense (from a viewers' point-of-view).  Hence it was no wonder that when the makers decided to re-release the movie on March 25, 2023, Orange was not just welcomed with open arms, but is being celebrated for 7 continuous days, yielding a box-office gross like never before!

Director Bhaskar went on to make 3 more movies after Orange, but none have been as memorable as the ones he made till then. Hopefully, this new lease of acceptance for Orange serves as a boost for the highly talented filmmaker as well.
