Shaakuntalam is a Samantha starrer mythological drama that is based on a 4th century play by Indian poet Kalidasa. The play is known by various names such as Abhijnana Shakuntalam, Shakuntala, The Recognition of Shakuntala, The Sign of Shakuntala, etc and it dramatizes the story of its titular character, as told in the Hindu epic Mahabharata. 

The movie produced by Dil Raju and his daughter under Sri Venkateswara Creations was supposed to release on February 17, 2023 but the makers announced a posteponement, 10 days before the film's scheduled release date. Now they have updated that Shaakuntalam will release in theaters on April 14, 2023 in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada.

Shaakuntalam is written and directed by Gunasekhar and will see Samantha in the titular character and actor Dev Mohan as Dushyanta. The movie also stars Mohan Babu, Aditi Balan, Prakash Raj, Gauthami, Madhoo and actor Allu Arjun's daughter Allu Arha in her debut acting role.
