One of Tamil cinema's defining films of the pandemic was Soorarai Pottru, which pioneered the direct release of star vehicles on OTT. The movie was produced by Suriya's 2D Entertainment and Guneet Monga's Shikya Entertainment. While Soorarai Pottru's Oscar journey was short-lived in 2021, Guneet Monga produced The Elephant Whisperers has gone on to bag a nomination for Best Short Documentary in Oscars 2023.

Suriya took to twitter to heartily wish his co-producer and Guneeth had an equally heart-warming response as well [All was believed to be not well between the two after Shikya Entertainment took 2D Entertainment to court over Soorarai Pottru remake rights]. 

The Elephant Whisperers directed by Karthik Gonsalves is currently available to stream on Netflix. The 41-minute mostly-Tamil movie follows two abandoned elephants and their caretakers, and comes with dubbing, subtitles in several Indian and international languages.
