Actor Vijay's next after Varisu is Thalapathy 67 (tentative title), which is touted to be a gansgter drama directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. The movie has been highly buzzed to come with multiple villains and several high profile names have been linked to these negative roles in the movie. Latest is that Prithviraj who was supposed to play one of the villains couldn't allot dates, and the makers are now in talks with another Mollywood actor Nivin Pauly instead.
Director Lokesh Kanagaraj was also spotted on the sets of actor Vishal's film shooting though it remains unknown if Vishal was approached for a villain role or some other character in Thalapathy 67. Character artiste Mansoor Ali Khan is also said to be part of the movie's cast.

Thalapathy 67 is expected to begin shooting at Munnar, Kerala on December 5, 2022. The movie is being planned as a PAN-Indian release and will see Vijay play a don in his 40s, with a salt-and-pepper look. Thalapathy 67 has its eyes set on Diwali, 2023 to hit theater screens.
Previously Lokesh Kanagaraj had said that post his last release Vikram, actor Vijay showed interest in Thalapathy 67 also being a part of the Kaithi - Vikram universe aka the LCU. An official announcement on the movie is yet to be made.
