The title of actor Vikram's 61st film has been revealed as Thangalaan and the movie's first look teaser video shows us a glimpse of the movie in the making. Inspired from true events from the British era in India, Thangalaan is about how people of Tamil origin were enslaved at Kolar Gold Fields in Karnataka. The movie also stars Parvathy Thiruvothu, Malavika Mohanan, Pasupathi, Harikrishnan Anbudurai among others and has GV Prakash for music.

Thangalaan is produced by Studio Green and Pa Ranjith's Neelam Productions. The film is co-written by Tamil Praba and its technical crew also includes A Kishor Kumar for cinematography, Selva R K for edits, S S Murthi for art and Stunner Sam for action. Junglee Music hold the audio rights to this film's album.
