Beginning a career in the film industry is no cake walk and the time between making a movie and releasing it can even be more nerve-wracking for a debutant. Filmmaker Pa. Ranjith who has carved a niche for himself in the Tamil film industry, recently revealed in an interview that his debut directorial Attakaththi almost didn't release 10 years ago.
But instead of fretting over the fate of the movie, Pa. Ranjith utilized the time between Attakathi's sale to Studio Green (film's distributors) and the movie's release 7 months later in theaters, to write three more scripts. All this while the distributors were constantly being encouraged to withdraw from or not release Attakathi.
One of the scripts Pa. Ranjith penned during this time titled Manjal Neelam Sigappu is yet to be made into a film. The other two - Madras (2014) and Sarpatta Parambarai (2022) went on to become some of the director's best works.
This just goes on to show that if one keeps putting in the work irrespective of the outcome, sooner or later one will end up reaping the fruits of the same. Not loosing focus despite other setbacks is another good takeaway from this reveal.
