Today marks 75 years since India, the most populous democracy in the world gained Independence from over 200 years of British rule [Arguably, the Brits took a 100 years to fully conquer India so their absolute rule prevailed only for 90 years]. Patriotic fervour is on an all time high this year, as the country's current Prime Minister Narendra Modi has implemented a 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign - meaning the National flag was allowed to be hoisted at every residence and building, if they wanted.
