Tamil-origin actress Sai Pallavi was promoting her upcoming Telugu movie Virata Parvam, when she was asked about the influence of the left-wing naxalite movement the movie is based on. Commenting the right and left wing of politics also means one cannot avoid the topic of Hindu-Muslim in this country and hence the actress ended up stating,

“I grew up in a neutral family where I was taught to be a good human being. I was taught I should protect the ones who are being hurt. The oppressed should be protected. Irrespective of their stature. I have heard about the left-wing and the right-wing. But, we can never surely tell who’s wrong and who’s right.

The Kashmiri Files' showed how Kashmiri Pandits were killed at the time. If you are taking the issue as a religious conflict, recently a Muslim driver, who was transporting cows, was beaten up and forced to chant ‘Jai Shri Ram.’ So where’s the difference between these two incidents? We have to be good human beings. If we are good ones, we won’t hurt others.”

This did not go down well with the right-wing groups especially Hindutva National groups like the Bajrang Dal who call themselves the "saviours of cow" in this country. In a statement, BJP spokesperson N.V. Subhash lashed out at Sai Pallavi stating that The Kashmir Files was about 'genocide against the Kashmir Pandits',  and that the actress 'had no knowledge of Indian history and culture except acting as instructed by directors in the film industry'.

A Bajrang Dal activist in Hyderabad lodged a police complaint against her stating that Sai Pallavi's comments 'hurt the sentiments of animal lovers whom she compared with Kashmiri extremists'.
