Mani Ratnam's upcoming directorial is a two-part period drama titled Ponniyin Selvan and the film is currently in post-production. Actress Trisha who plays the role of Kundavai aka Illaiya Piratti in the movie, recently shared an image from the dubbing session of the movie. According to her caption, the actress seemed to be loving her sessions with pure Tamil for the movie.

Ponniyin Selvan I is scheduled to release in Summer next year i.e. May/June 2022. Produced by Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies, the film comes with an ensemble of Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Vikram, Aishwarya Rai, Bachchan, Sara Arjun, Shobhita Dhulipala, Jeyaram, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Ashwin Kakamanu and Vikram Prabhu among others.
