On February 17, 2017, a popular Malayalam actress who is also a known face in the rest of the South, was sexually assaulted in a moving car in Kochi and Mollywood actor Dileep, was named a 'key conspirator' in the case and charged with 'revenge crime'.

The case which has been going on for over 4 years now saw the arrest of Dileep, him being named the 8th accused and coming out on bail eventually. Dileep's wife Kavya Madhavan who is also an actress in the Kerala film industry, appeared before a special court as a witness in the case today.

Kavya Madhavan is among the nearly 50 witnesses in the case from the Malayalam film industry and till now the court has examined over 180 witnesses. Honey M. Varghese, the special judge trying the case has sought 6 more months from the Supreme Court for completing the proceedings.
