Earlier this year, we reported about Rajinikanth teaming up with Sun Pictures for his next after Annaatthe. Latest we hear, the project which is tentatively referred to as Thalaivar 169 will go on floors from July, 2021.

Rajinikanth is currently shooting for Annaatthe in Hyderabad and he is expected to wrap shooting by May 10, 2021. The actor is yet to finalize a script but directors Karthik Subbaraj and Desingh Periyasamy of Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal fame are the current front-runners. 

It is also being said that Thalaivar 169 plans to release for Pongal, 2022.
