V Creations produced Karnan starring Dhanush in the lead has opened to a 'blockbuster response' at the box-office as the movie has managed a double digit gross on day 1 in Tamil Nadu alone.

In some areas of the state like Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari and Madurai, the film has registered a career best opening for a Dhanush movie. The total day 1 gross of Karnan in Tamil Nadu state is Rs. 10. 5 Cr. and day 1 (distributor's) share of the movie stands at Rs. 7. 30 Cr.
