Actor Vijay is currently gearing up to begin shooting for Thalapathy 65, his upcoming movie with director Nelson and Sun Pictures. Buzz is that Thalapahy 65 is targetting a Pongal i.e. January, 2022 release.

Added to this, the actor is reportedly planning on having two more film releases that year - one in Summer 2022 and another by the end of the year, either a Diwali or Christmas release. Though none of these plans have been officially announced or confirmed, the reason for the same is suggested to be because of Master.

Theater owners in Tamil Nadu have had struggles pulling in theater crowds in the COVID-19 era and after Master, they are seem to have requested Vijay and his team for more movie releases. The last time Vijay had more than 2 movie releases in a year was 2005 and all his four films - Thirupaachi, Sukran, Sachien and Sivakasi had done well that year.
