Tamil Nadu Information and Publicity minister Kadambur Raju who had previously welcomed the decision of Master releasing in movie theaters has now stated that, if required the theater occupancy for Master screening will be increased. In a public gathering, the minister said,
"First let us see a trial with 50% occupancy, then we'll increase it to 75% and if required more step by step..I am told Master is releasing on January 13 for Pongal..Politically, our wish is that by then Tamil Nadu state will be free of COVID-19 restrictions."

Produced by XB Film Creators and Seven Screen Studio unveiled, Master is directed by Lokesh Kanagraj and stars Vijay, Vijay Sethupathi, Malavika Mohanan and Andreah Jeremiah among others. The film is currently being seen as the industry-hope to bring back movie theater business on its feet.
