Amidst the pandemic Coronavirus COVID-19 which has movie theaters under complete shutdown since March, 2020, two major Bollywood movies have set an ambitious theatrical release date. Ranveer Singh starrer 83 which re-tells Kapil Dev's journey through Indian Cricket team's 83 world cup will release for Christmas this year i.e. in December, 2020 while the Akshay Kumar starrer cop movie Sooryavanshi is planning on a slightly earlier release during Diwali i.e.  November, 2020.

It is worth mentioning here that since the onset of the pandemic, Hindi movies have released only via OTT platforms and 83 and Sooryavanshi will be the first set of new films to break this new normal. 83 directed by Kabir Khan also stars Deepika Padukone in a key role while Sooryavanshi is a Rohit Shetty directorial.
