With 10 dead and over 800 hospitalized, the Uriyadi 2** type gas leak at LG Polymer chemical plant in Visakhapatnam has left the entire nation in a state of shock today. While the tragedy dubbes as 'Vizag Gas Leak' couldn't be more untimely, given we have a pandemic at large, prominent personalities including those from the Indian film industry have expressed condolences over the horrific videos and photos surfacing of people lying unconscious on the roads and trying to reach ambulances.
The gas leak took place around 2.30 am on Thursday when workers of the plant were preparing for the re-opening of the unit following easing of the ongoing coronavirus lockdown. Initial investigation has revealed a gas valve malfunction that led to the valve bursting and causing the massive gas leak.
Deeply disturbed by the visuals from the #VizagGasLeak. Praying for the recovery of those admitted to the hospital. Heartfelt condolences to those who lost their near and dear ones.

** - Uriyadi 2 produced by Suriya's 2D Entertainment shows a gas leak accident in a chemical plant which results in a number of deaths in the village it is situated in. The hero (Vijay Kumar), a worker in the plant who is fed up from alerting the authorities, local leaders and his people of the plant flouting environmental norms is then shown fighting for justice against the victims.
