Short Take on - Birbal (Kannada, Amazon Prime)
An Adequate Thriller!

A murder happens and an innocent is framed. 7 years down the line, a lawyer reopens the case and then we keep going back to that fateful night through the POV of different characters and try to fit the pieces together along with the lawyer. Birbal does its job adequately well and the suspense is maintained well enough to have us invested throughout. The acting isn't great but this doesn't hurt much, given the genre. For a film that gets right into the game without wasting a second, some of the flab in the form of romance and comedy should have surely been done away with. Moreso because they don't really work well even as standalone scenes. I understand Birbal is aimed as a trilogy and surely this is something to look out for. More effort to do away with the rough edges and the coming parts can go a step ahead!
