Actor Ajith who celebrates his 49th birthday today i.e. May 1, 2020 also is celebrating 20 years since one of his memorable movies Kandukondain Kandukondain (May 4, 2000) released. The Hindu featured an interview special with director of the movie Rajeev Menon and he has spilled some beans on how the role of a struggling film-maker in his multi-starrer movie went from Prashanth to Ajith. 

Apparently actor Prashanth was Menon's initial choice for his movie and at the time he had approached the actor actresses Tabu and Aishwarya Rai were already on-board. Prashanth who had already done Jeans with Aishwarya Rai wanted to be paired with her in the movie, so Menon had no choice but to look out for other options.

The director also revealed that Ajith was recuperating from an injury when his name came up as a suggestion. So Menon narrated the script to Ajith while the actor was hospitalized in bed and this is how that 'Thala' actor's casting was finalized.
