Vijayakanth offers land for last rites of patients who died from COVID-19!

The death of Dr. Simon in Tamil Nadu who was a COVID-19 patient and the ruckus surrounding the last rites of his remains made headlines, after people from two localities in Chennai refused to let the body be taken to the burial ground. Dr. Simon who is said to contracted the novel Coronavirus from a patient was a neurosurgeon and MD of New Hope Hospital and people carrying his body to the cemetery were denied entry TP Chatram in Kilpauk and attacked with sticks and stones at Velangadu

While the protest is said to be a result of rumour-mongering that burial of a COVID-19 affected patient can lead to the spread of Coronavirus (not true as the body is contained in a decontaminated bag and is deep-buried at about 12 feet below ground level), keeping the agitated public-sentiments in mind, actor-poitican Vijayakanth has come up with an immediate solution.

Vijayakanth has offered his own property which is a land near his Andal Alagar Engineering College as a site for burying bodies of the deceased COVID-19 patients. Vijaykanth being well-known public figure, this move of his is expected to bring some sort of objectivity among the panicked public.
