AP Film Chamber takes action to put restrictions on Tamil movies


7aum Arivu narrowly escaped the wrath of AP Film chambers desperate move to protect the Telugu movies. The  Andhra Pradesh Film Chamber of Commerce has decided to have tough restrictions on the Tamil films which gets dubbed and releases in Telugu. In the recent past, Tamil dubbed films occupied majority of theaters in the neighboring state making it difficult for the small film Telugu producers. This will be done to protect the Telugu movie Industry with more local people starting to show interest in watching Tamil movies in theatres. The Proposals made were 

 

  • The Entertainment Tax for the dubbed films to get hiked from the current 20 % to 40 %.
  • Only straight Telugu movies are to be allowed to release during the important festivals like Pongal, Dussera , Diwali & Christmas.
  • Restricting Dubbed films to only 85 theaters all over the state which has around 1450 screens overall.


All these Proposals will be Implemented into action by Jan 2012. The Major Pongal releases 3 Rascals ( Nanban) & Sakuni will now feel the heat immediately after these restrictions comes to action.
