Ranveer Singh's upcoming sports drama '83' is based on the Cricket World Cup 1983. The actor plays former Team India captain Kapil Dev who went on to lead India to its first World Cup win in cricket. Deepika Padukone essays the role of Kapil Dev's wife 'Romi Dev' in the film. The makers have unveiled the first look of Deepika on social media.

Directed by Kabir Khan, the film will hit the theatres on April 10, 2020. '83' also features R Badree, Hardy Sandhu, Chirag Patil, Saqib Saleem, Pankaj Tripathi, Tahir Bhasin, Ammy Virk and Saahil Khattar in pivotal roles. 

Vishnu Vardhan Induri, founder and managing director of the Celebrity Cricket League is co-producing the film with Phantom Films and Reliance Entertainment, with Kabir Khan at the helm. Kamal Haasan and Nagarjuna will be presenting the Tamil and Telugu versions of the film respectively.
