A.R. Murugadoss directed Darbar which stars Rajinikanth and Nayanthara in the lead is only a week away from hitting theater screens on January 9, 2020. The movie is naturally the talk-of-the-town for its promotional activities such as the decals on domestic flights, promo video release, early morning show timings and even new song leaks.
The demand for pre-bookings are on an all time high not only within the country but also in overseas. USA and other distributors report that the tickets for fan-shows are selling like hot cakes and in USA alone multiple fan-shows have already sold out.

However amidst all this craze, movie makers Lyca Productions are also dealing a high court case which involves a ban on the film's release. This Monday, the Madras High Court had directed Lyca Productions to respond to a petition from Malaysia based DMY Creations, which claimed that the production company owed them Rs 23.70 Cr. in debt.
The case came for a hearing today and Lyca's side have asked for a day's time more (January 3, 2020) to file their response. It remains to be seen if the case is just another last minute financial hassle or a true impediment to Darbar, for DMY Creations have sought a clear ban on the film's release unless their dues are settled.
