Dhanush expresses his disappointment on National awards at Asuran audio launch

PUBLISHED DATE | 28/Aug/2019

Actor Dhanush and his entire team of Asuran were present for the film’s audio launch held this evening (August 28) in Chennai. While addressing the press and media, Dhanush expressed his disappointment on this year’s National awards as the most worthy technicians of our Tamil cinema didn’t get it.

He said, “Soon after the announcement of National awards, many asked us disappointingly, why Vetrimaaran and I didn't get the honours. This indeed was more gratifying for us as for the fact that people really loved the film and were deeply concerned about our success. Of course, we don’t make movies for awards, but for audiences, who we believe are happy about the work in Vada Chennai. Moreover, both of us have already got our honours for Aadukalam. However, I was little disappointed that our Art director Jacky didn’t get the awards for he had done such a remarkable art work for this film.

At the same time, I am really disappointed with our filmmakers Mari Selvaraj (Pariyerum Perumal), Ramkumar (Ratchasan) and Merku Thodarchi Malai film for not getting felicitated in spite of owning all eligibilities.”

Getting on to speak about Asuran, Dhanush said, “As soon as I told Thanu sir that Vetrimaaran is going to direct our project, he gave a nod without even listening to the storyline. The surprising part is that he settled my salary even before the completion of shooting. When it comes to Vetrimaaran, he always brings the best to me and gets the best out of me. As in Vada Chennai, he has offered me a scope to explore something new with Asuran. Playing a 50-yr old and 22-yr old character at my age of 36yrs was challenging. Furthermore, working with GV Prakash after 7 years has been an enjoyable experience.”
