Vidya Balan recounts how the Tamil Film industry unceremoniously rejected her in the past!

Ever since her debut in 2005, Vidya Balan - a Bollywood actress of Tamil origin, has often been vocal about how she was unceremoniously rejected by film industries in the South. So much so, that people have often wondered at the time when K. Balachander tagged Vidya Balan 'limited' and had her replaced from two films of his, just because she had said no to 'on-screen kissing' or the time when Mohanlal walked out of a Malayalam film Chakram, letting his fraternity term the actress as 'jinxed'.

Things have changed a lot since then and Vidya Balan who now has a Padma Shri and a National Award to her multiple-award winning CV, has gone on to feature in Telugu (NTR Biopic) and Tamil (Nerkonda Paarvai) films. However, the actress seemingly has not forgotten the incidents down South (especially those pertaining to Tamil film industry), for she has once again recounted the past incidents that left her scarred.

In an interview to a film portal, the actress said, "There was a Tamil film I was doing and I was thrown out of the film..They already had replaced me and my father after knowing called up the producer asking if they can meet because he wanted to know what was going wrong..both my parents flew to Chennai with me and we went to the producer's office. The producer showed us the clippings from the film and he said - just look at her, does she look like a heroine..i was not in favour of taking her at all, it was the director who insisted."

It is worth mentioning here that Vidya Balan was supposed to star in Run (produced by A.M. Rathnam) and Manasellam (produced by Aascar V. Ravichandran) and the wiki pages of both these films have not hesitated from stating that Balan was replaced from their respective projects.

Recalling how tough it was to face her rejection, Vidya was quoted as saying, "I felt ugly...I felt like shit for months and I don't think I looked at myself in the mirror... I didn't like what I saw because I thought I was ugly...For the longest time I had not forgiven that man but today, thanks to that I realized that I have to love and accept myself the way I'm."

For the longest time, fans of Vidya Balan have known that she was almost duped into starring in a Tamil sex-comedy movie in the early days of her career and how she walked out of the film after a day of shooting. Vidya also recollected that "horrible experience" by stating, "that film was locked on the phone and I didn't know any better and landed in Chennai.. I shot with him for a day and really felt uncomfortable with the kind of humour..I left the film and then they sent me a legal notice."
