Ashutosh Gowariker's magnum opus Panipat is one of the most anticipated films of the year. Veteran actress Zeenat Aman is the latest addition to the film's cast. She will be essaying the role of Sakina Begum. Director Ashutosh in a recent interview has confirmed that Zeenat Amman will play a feisty Mughal leader of the province of Hoshiyarganj in Panipat. He has earlier worked with the legendary actress as her co-star in 1989 film Gawaahi.
Panipat, the historical drama, is based on the Third Battle of Panipat, between the Marathas (led by Sadashiv Rao Bhau) and the Afghans (led by Ahmad Shah Durrani). The battle took place on January 14, 1761, at Panipat, and is considered to be one of the most eventful battles fought in the 18th century.
The film boasts of a stellar star cast which includes Arjun Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Sanjay Dutt. Arjun Kapoor has been sporting a new look for the film and has even beefed up to play the part of a valiant Maratha warrior Sadashiv Rao Bhau. Panipat is set to release on December 6, 2019.
