The much awaited audio of Mahanati was launched yesterday at Hyderabad in a grand manner. The lead actors Dulquer Salmaan, Vijay Devarakonda, Samantha and Keerthy Suresh were part of the audio launch event. The event was attended by Akkineni Nagarjuna, Jr NTR, Nani, director Sekhar Kammula among others.
Keerthy Suresh who plays the titular role of Savithri spoke about how she landed the role, her co-stars Samantha, Dulquer and Vijay Devarakonda and her journey as Mahanati. Here’s what she had said at the audio launch:
Keerthy on playing the titular role as Savithri
“The first person I have to say ‘Thanks’ is Nani. I came to know about this film only through him and he said that it would be nice if I do that role". “When I was initially approached by Director Nag Ashwin and producer Swapna Dutt to portray the role of legendary actress Savithri, I had said ‘NO’ as I was not convinced I could fit the bill perfectly as it was a very challenging one. But both of them were so determined in casting me and gave me the confidence to take up the titular role.”
I am the heroine but Samantha is the star of the movie
Keerthy Suresh heaped praises on Samantha for taking up a role though she is not the main lead in the film. “I am the heroine of Mahanati but Samantha is the star who is driving this movie.”
Dulquer is a charmer and family friend
I have known Dulquer since my childhood and we are family friends. Dulquer is one of a charmer already and after the film’s release, fans are going to love him more.
Happy to work together in a film with Vijay Deverakonda
Keerthy Suresh felt sorry that she couldn’t share the screen space with Vijay Devarakonda. She said she was very happy that they have worked together in the same film.
Mahanati is a beautiful journey
Keerthy thanked the entire cast and crew of the film for their efforts in making this ambitious project happen. Mahanati is one of the projects which I connected emotionally. It has been a beautiful journey for me. Wherever Savithri is, I feel that her blessings are always there. Our journey has been completed. I really wish that everyone watches the movie in theatres and make it a big success."
