Rangasthalam has taken the best ever opening for a Telugu film in Chennai city, grossing 25 lakhs on Day1. Agnyaathavaasi had grossed 24 lakhs and was the previous Telugu opening record holder in the city.

From allover TN, Rangasthalam has grossed around 60 lakhs on Day1 and is racing towards the Hit status in the state, this weekend. The reviews are largely positive and in the absence of any new Tamil films, this Ramcharan - Samantha starrer looks set to dominate TN too.

Sukumar has directed this period revenge drama driven by the bonding between 2 brothers, played by Ramcharan and Aadhi.
