The long-awaited biopic on Telegu superstar-turned-politician NTR, was officially launched today at Ramakrishna Studios in Hyderabad. Nandamuri Balakrishna will be playing the titular role of NTR in this biopic to be directed by Teja. The biopic launch was done on a grand scale and the event was graced by Vice President Venkaiah Naidu.

The movie was launched formally with Vice President Venkaiah Naidu sounding the clapboard for the muhurtham shot, Telangana Cinematography Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav switching on the camera, and K Ragavendra Rao directing it. Balakrishna was dressed up as Duryodhana for the symbolic 'Muhurtham shot'. A lavish stage was set up with a large throne in the middle. 

The film crew was recreating a court scene from the blockbuster period drama Daana Veera Soora Karna, which had NTR playing roles of Karna, Lord Krishna and Duryodhana. The filmmakers also had an actor dressed up like late matinee idol MG Ramachandran for the opening shot.

After a successful film career, NTR entered politics after forming the Telugu Desam Party in 1985. He served as Andhra Pradesh chief minister for seven years. According to reports, Balakrishna will be seen in close to 62 avatars in the Telugu-Hindi bilingual. 

The film is all set to go floors tomorrow (March 30). Teja will first reportedly shoot NTR's early days in Chennai as a government employee. The film is being produced by Balakrishna along with Sai Korrapati and Vishnu Vardhan Induri.
