In India, majority of the films do not hire an individual screen-writers; most of the films are written by the director himself or the screen-writers are never credited with as much importance as say the director or the production house. But breaking tradition, the recently released trailer of Varun Dhawan starrer October credited its screen-writer Juhi Chaturvedi individually and this was promptly caught by some of the movie enthusiasts online. Though Juhi is fairly well known, having written for movies like Vicky Donor and Madras Cafe and winning National award for Piku, even a regular movie-goer would agree that an individual credit for a screen-writer is quite rare.
Naturally, the moment caught our attention and in the process, some interesting observations too were brought to light :
So thriller to see this individual credit on a TRAILER. This is a recognition not only for @writeonj but for the need for specialized screenwriters in general.
PS: Juhi, even in the HTA days, we all knew you were destined for great things, eh? :-) pic.twitter.com/mcwwrkYeGL

Except for Jaideep Sahni post Chak De, don't remember any other screenwriter getting trailer billing in the last decade at least.

Ironic that a National award winning writer getting credited individually is seen as a thing of wonder. However, this is definitely a step ahead in breaking the stigma attached to screen-writers!
