While Udhayanidhi Stalin is gearing up for the release of Nimir (remake of National award winning Malayalam film Maheshinte Prathikaaram) on January 26, 2018, an announcement on his upcoming new film has also been made. 2016's Malayalam hit film Happy Wedding is being remade in Tamil and Udhayanidhi Stalin would be seen featured as the lead in it. This will be Udhay's third remake after Nimir and Manithan (remake of Hindi film Jolly LLB).
Happy Wedding was originally directed by then debutant Omar Lulu and is the story of an engineering student and his friends. The romantic comedy will have Udhay reprise the role of Harikrishnan aka Hari, who decides to enter wedlock on his mother's insistence. Besides this remake movie, Udhayanidhi will also be seen working on Kanne Kalaimaane with Seenu Ramasamy and 7 Kinaru this year.
