What to expect from VIP 2, Podhuvaga Emmanasu Thangam and Taramani?

The upcoming long Independence day weekend (assuming you bunk on Monday) will have something for movie buffs of all kinds, as three Tamil movies are hitting the screens on August 11. Let's quickly check out what these movies promise to offer.

VIP 2

At the outset, VIP 2 looks like the first preference of moviegoers, thanks to the blockbuster success of VIP. With most of the shows for the opening weekend already sold out across multiplexes, expect the movie to take a grand opening.

Directed by Soundarya Rajinikanth, the movie has Dhanush, Amala Paul, Kajol, Samuthirakani and Vivek in central characters. While Anirudh's songs and background score played a pivotal role in VIP's success, Sean Roldan is in charge of music for the sequel.

What to expect?

Dhanush's swag Vs Kajol's elegance should be a treat to watch.

Podhuvaga Emmanasu Thangam

After the forgettable Saravanan Irukka Bayamaen, Udhayanidhi Stalin hopes to deliver a hit with Podhuvaga Emmanasu Thangam, directed by debutant Thalapathy Prabu. Nivetha Pethuraj, who made an impressive debut with Oru Naal Koothu, is paired opposite Udhay in the film.

Touted to be rural entertainer, Podhuvaga Emmanasu Thangam has Soori playing Udhay's sidekick and Parthiepan will be seen in a pivotal character with negative shades.

What to expect?

An out-and-out commercial family entertainer.

Taramani

Director Ram's long-delayed project Taramani will finally see the light of day this weekend. Known for making poignant films with intense emotions, Ram has roped in Andrea and Vasanth Ravi to play the lead roles in the film.

Music for Taramani is scored by Yuvan, while lyrics is penned by late Na. Muthukumar. The movie was recently in the limelight for taking a dig at the censor board for giving it an 'A' certificate.

What to expect?

A new-age urban romantic entertainer
