Koditta Idangalai Nirappuga Review - Definitely surprises but does not fully engage!!!

Bharath vijayakumar

Just as you were aware that nothing in Bairava is going to be different , you are pretty much sure that Parthiban will be looking to surprise you multiple times in Koditta Idangalai Nirappuga. But surprises alone do not guarantee a good film.

Plot:

A youngster falls for an attractive girl. But is the girl really what she appears on the surface ?

Parthiban:

As in most Parthiban films the effort to be different is evident throughout. The film at least apparently deals with a mature topic revolving around the sexual frustration of a young woman before pulling the rug from under our feet. You always knew that this was going to happen but from which direction the rug was going to be pulled was the question and as such the climax is an effective one. What transpires before this is a mix of some intelligent writing, some tasteful as well as some crude adult humour and quite a palpable sexual tension.

Cast:

The way Parvathy Nair behaves is quite inconsistent but it all makes sense in the climax. Shantanu is adequate as the youngster through whose eyes we see the film. But you do not completely buy in the emotional turmoil that he is under. You definitely feel it but an experienced actor might have been able to bring in some more depth to the performance. Parthiban actually has the meatiest part and makes the film work to an extent. The broken English that he speaks is filled with numerous innuendos that could actually turn your head into a tizzy given that this film is not actually adult rated.

The dance number in the film is poorly inserted. An obvious compromise to showcase the agility of Shantanu. With a run time of just over two hours the film does keep losing some momentum often. There isn't much excitement for sometime in the later part of the first half. The suspense factor is always there but the level of anticipation is never at the brim.

Bottomline:

KIN has many blanks along the way. Once you fill them, the sentence does make sense. But the process of filling the blanks isn't entirely interesting.
