Owner's envy, neighbour's pride

Parthiban excels with his trademark comedy, and single-handedly brings the roof down with his English. "Obama's maximum and minimum and his service to Obama's sister," can make you giggle non-stop. We are used to Parthiban's witty Tamil jokes but in KIN we get a taste of his English jokes. The audience roars when he tells Kevin, "Thank you sir. I shall live between your legs sir and be there always permanently pregnant sir."(more)

But the rest of the film doesn�t work as well. The supporting characters (Thambi Ramaiah as a forgetful driver and Simran as a love guru) pop up now and then but hardly make an impression. But most importantly, a lot of the scenes happen to have only the three lead actors, but the triangular romance fails to show any spark, and the actors feel somewhat inadequate.(more)

Just the climax alone cannot change the impact made by the rest of the movie

Only a few directors have the knack to handle this kind of scripts and Parthiban is one such. His take on modern day girls might not be well received or accepted by all. KIN is a bold attempt from Parthiban yet again. His wordplay with the film�s tagline (a film with mistakes) justifies the film�s core plot, but as a whole, the film finds it hard to engage the audience.(more)
