Thaandavam Preview – SWOT Analysis

by Raven

Vikram and AL Vijay' s ‘Thaandavam’ has withstood all the obstacles and will see the light of the day on this Friday, September 28th. Vikram is ably supported by Santhanam, Anushka, Amy Jackson and Lakshmi Rai in this action packed commercial entertainer. Director Vijay has retained most of Deivathirumagal team with music score by G.V.Prakash Kumar, camera handled by Nirav Shah and editing by Antony.

Strength

  • Vikram playing the role of blind person possessing echolocation skills could be a crowd puller. The movie for the first time in Indian cinema explores this concept with training by Daniel Kish, an expert in echolocation.
  • Vikram is a director's delight who gets under the skin of any character through sheer hard work and dedication. It is worth mentioning that Vikram has done his homework in getting the body language right of a blind person.
  • The second trailer re-positioning Thaandavam as a complete entertainer has been received well. The trailer makes clear that the movie will be a racy action thriller with all commercial elements intact. Additionally, the clean ‘U’ certificate promises to bring the family audience.
  • AL Vijay's high success rate and his uncanny ability to blend commercial elements, visually appealing picturization propped up by solid script.

 Opportunity

  • ‘Thaandavam’ is promoted aggressively by its production house UTV Motion Pictures and pushing for wide release. Thaandavam could possibly record the highest number of prints ever for a Vikram's movie sweeping away all recent releases.

Threat

  • It is very important for Thaandavam to take a good opening followed by positive word of mouth from critics and FDFS fans. Thaandavam cannot afford to waste any time bringing family and neutral audience to theatres. Otherwise, the film might face competition in subsequent weeks as exhibitors clear the shows to make way for Suriya’s magnum opus Maattrraan releases on October 12th.

Following Rajapaatai's debacle, Vikram badly needs a solid hit to solidify his position before Shankar's "I" and David(Hindi). Good luck and wishes to Thaandavam team for exploring new concepts in Tamil cinema within commercial format.
