Saahasam Swasaga Saagipo Songs - Music Review

Ramesh S Kannan

A R Rahman and GautamVasudevMenon return to another direct Telugu movie with Saahasam Swasaga Saagipo and Naga Chaitanya as a lead. The combo gave memorable melodies in their previous album. Let's check out whether combo able to retain their magic with this soundtrack or not.

Showkali:

Showkali's techno hip hop sound has a mishmash of assorted sounds from techno kuthu to strange middle eastern sounds in the middle. ADK and Sri Rascol's Rap portions elevate the song further while Aditya Rao gives respite with brief melodic portions. The switchover to the fast pace towards the end appears to be abrupt and Rakendu Mouli's lyrics got subdued amidst the EDM sounds.

Kannula Munde:

Kannula Munde's is a pleasant breezy listen in the fabulous vocals of  Haricharan and Chinmayi while Krishna Chaitanya impresses with simple love-filled lyrics. However, the free flow structure of the tune reminds of Kundanapu Bomma from Ye Maaya Chesave and interludes also remind us the previous hit number from the same combo Hosanna.

Chakori

The soundtrack's towering highlight is brilliant classical western fusion Chakori where everything fits the bill perfectly from eagle sounds in the start, the song has the string of awesome elements like utilization of PatnamSubramaniyam's composition, lovely Kanjira set to the tune of muthaithiru in Charanam. The icing on the cake is the top-notch singing by Satyaprakash and ShashaaTripati. AnantSriram who gave some brilliant lyrics for Ye Maya Chesave, easily scores in this road trip song also.

Thaanu Nenu

Thaanu Neenu has serene ambient arrangements with mesmerizing flute sections especially loved the bird call like flute piece in the prelude and western classical violin in the interludes upped the beauty of this simple breezy song. Rahman set the Ananth Sriram's casual lyrics with ethereal sounding tune while Vijay Prakash's splendid rendition makes this song memorable ride for the listeners.

Vellipomakey

Rahman fares better in the finale techno song in the soundtrack Vellipomakey which starts with an instantly catchy sound and made better by Sid Sriram's effective singing accompanied by AnanthSriram's lyrics. The humming portions by the uncredited female singer give a pleasant touch to the song.

Verdict: A R Rahman and Gautam Vasudev Menon once again strike the right chord after Ye Maya Chesave and although it falls a tad behind compared to their previous album, two stunning melodies in the soundtrack is a keeper.

Rating: 3.75/5
