Tere Bin Laden 2 Review – Not as funny and witty as its prequel!
Divay Agarwal
In 2010 came Tere Bin Laden, a surprise package which had a very out of the box idea and made us laugh like crazy with its very brilliant satirical storyline and witty writing. But unfortunately its sequel fails in creating the same impact!
Hailing from a ‘Halwai’ family in Delhi, Sharma Jr.(Manish Paul) comes to Mumbai to fulfill his Bollywood desires as a director. His destiny takes a turn when he meets Paddhi (Pradhuman Singh), and casts him due to hislooks that are almost similar to the dead OSAMA. All the confusion starts as US president David (SikanderKher) wants the doppelganger dead and Khalili (Piyush Mishra) wants the world to know OSAMA is alive and spread terror. What will happen to Paddhi, is the main plotline of the film.
Unlike its prequel, the films lacks majorly in sharp intelligent humor. The jokes seem forced and apart from a couple of scenes, you don’t really find enough material to laugh on! Director Abhishek Sharma couldn’t weave a story like he once did and the spin-off was probably a bad idea.
Talking about the performances, Manish Paul tried hard but hasn’t been really able to come out of TV host zone. He’s done a decent job but as an actor, he has a tremendous task to do. Pradhuman Singh was again fantastic to watch like the last time. Even SikanderKher did fine. But the big disappointment was how Piyush Mishra was wasted.
In all, if you loved Tere Bin Laden, then it’s better to leave its sequel untouched. Go for Aligarh instead!
