Change of directors for Vikram's troubled project

Change of Directors for Vikram's project (Karikalan)

With Vikram's project with Shankar (I) getting confirmed last week, it is clear that Karikalan's producers are not going to get any of Vikram's dates until early 2013. Shankar demands 100% commitment from all his cast and crew members during the making of his movies and it is improbable that Chiyaan will be able to accommodate two projects at the same time.

Today's Times of India report more or less confirmed our MovieCrow breaking report that Karikalan is shelved and it is undergoing some changes to script, director and crew members while retaining Vikram. As per the report, there are multiple contradictory comments that have been made by key people associated with the movie.

  • The script writer Gandhikrishna said "It's true that the producers have approached me recently to shoot this film and we're working out the modalities currently. If everything falls in place and Vikram sir's dates can be worked out, I will be interested in taking it up."

  • The current director Kannan said "All is well with the project. We have completed 25 per cent of it and I'll be shooting the rest of it once Vikram gets done with his current assignments."

  • One of the Producers, S S Vasan, quote that director Kannan will definitely be in the film. However, they are planning to replace cinematographer Karthik with Enthiran cameraman Rathnavelu aka Randy.

One of our sources confirmed that there are talks currently going with Vikram and he has not given a formal go ahead yet on the proposed changes to script, director and crew since he has been busy with wrapping up Thandavam and getting ready for Shankar's "I".
