X: Past Is Present Movie Review : ‘X’periment gone wrong!
Divay Agarwal
When you have brilliant actors like Rajat Kapoor, Huma Qureshi, SwaraBhaskar, RadhikaApte and 11 very able film makers co-directing a film, one wonders what can go wrong. But sadly, he can’t deny the fact that all went wrong in this Xperiment! I am not saying that it doesn’t offer anything new but in the attempt of this offering, the story becomes a khichdi which doesn’t bring delight to anyone.
K (Rajat Kapoor), an unsuccessful filmmaker meets a young girl at an after-party with whom he sharesthe various phases of his life where he realizes the significance of the women he met in the films he made and how will his life be without a women. What happens next is the rest of the story!
11 directors telling 11 stories within a single framework hasn’t gone down as the best of ideas with each having their own prospective and messing up the movie badly. Editing is also not something I liked. The story gets so confusing that the audience actually starts to saturate and get really bored. The experiment to break the mundane framework of modern movies have resulted in a mundane film itself. Though you might enjoy the storybetween SwaraBhaskar and AnshumanJha who plays the younger version of K.
Talking about the performances, Rajat Kapoor gives a decent performance along with SwaraBhaskar and RadhikaApte leaving a mark but Huma Qureshi didn’t have much to explore and to impress. Special mention to PoojaRuperal and AnshumanJha for their parts.
In all, there is nothing extraordinary about the film and therefore you could definitely skip this one. But if you appreciate the effort to experiment, then you might as well go and contribute towards its box-office collection.
