Tribute :: Enthiran Celebrates One Year Anniversary 

This day last year, Enthiran became a milestone movie sending shock waves across India and made people sit up and take notice of Tamil movie Industry. Enthiran was a risky proposition from day one of conception. Enthiran was initially scripted for Kamal and Priety Zinta in the lead. Due to economic viability, the project got shelved. 

After almost 7 years, Sivaji's success gave Shankar the necessary confidence to revive Enthiran with Shahrukh Khan in the lead. After initial announcements, Shankar had a fall-out with Shahrukh Khan. The reasons quoted were because Shahrukh Khan had suggested too many changes to the script and also insisted on doing the graphics at his home company, Red Chillies. Shankar did not agree to both the conditions and they both decided to part ways amicably. Shankar approached Rajni for making it in Tamil and rest is history.

Without the vision of Shankar and commitment of Rajini, this would not have been possible. Enthiran now stands as the costliest Tamil movie ever made. On the Box Office front, collection crossed 170 Crores breaking many All India records (To put things in perspective, Enthiran's worldwide collection is estimated to be at least twice as much as the recent super hit movie Mankatha)

Until Shankar and Rajni decide to come together again in the near future, this BO record will not be broken for a few more years to come.
