Akshay Kumar is that Bollywood actor who is making his debut in the Tamil film industry with Rajinikanth starrer 2.0. While we know that Akshay's announcement of January 26, 2018 as a release date of his Hindi film Padman has sparked rumours over 2.0 's postponement, these talks have been addressed by the Khiladi actor himself for the first time. In an interview to a leading daily, Akshay Kumar has been quoted over the Padman Vs 2.0 clash as follows :

"There is a lot of false information that is being circulated over both films releasing on the same day. Why would I clash with my own film? It will be either Padman or 2.0. ..While Padman is a film that I have produced, 2.0 belongs to Shankar, Rajinikanth and Lyca Productions. They will decide whether they want to release the film on Republic Day. If they do, I will postpone Padman and if they don't, I will go ahead," 

While Lyca productions has also maintained that 2.0 will be releasing on the said date, with the film gearing up for a teaser launch at Hyderabad, Akshay's decision to book the slot just to be on the safer end was reasoned by the actor as well. He said, "I am certainly having a release on Republic Day because if I don't do it, there are many others who are waiting in line. So I might as well take advantage."
