A hard hitting realistic take!

Credible characterization and a fairly neat screenplay are the positive components in NMA. Director Suseendiran has not veered from the subject. It is Karthi all the way who monopolizes the film in every frame. Yuvan does a neat job in the music department. Although there are a few slow patches, Suseendiran should be appreciated for coalescing the energy and entertainment of a mainstream film with a sensitivity of a realistic one.(more)

Naan Mahaan Alla is almost perfect.

The first and foremost reason why the film works is Karthi. Kajal Aggarwal is pretty and appealing. All the secondary characters play their part very well. Rajeevan's art-work is superb. Baskar Sakthi's dialogues are an incredible strength to a movie of this kind. At no place is it stilted, or artificial. And, of course, there's Suseendran himself, so clearly at the helm of affairs that there's no question of boredom. (more)

Good vs Evil.

A perfect ten to Suseendran for the casting of Naan Mahaan Alla! Every actor, big and small, is an admirable choice. Plot and premise wise NMA isn't new — as always bad is very bad and good is very good … till needled. And that justifies the title. Yuvan mesmerizes! Plaudits to Rajeevan for the natural art spaces. Go for it.

Suseenthiran has come with a rocker of a film, which is refreshingly fresh, innovative and packaged in a breezy manner within the commercial format. There is something new about the story telling and packaging which makes it interesting along with a power packed performance by Karthi, who carries the film to its winning point. It is perfect team work of Suseenthiran, Karthi, promising set of newcomers, Yuvan and the technical team which makes the film engrossing and racy. (more)

A commercial entertainer that is impressive in most parts.

Karthi is right there in almost all frames, he leaves an impact. Giving him right company is Kajal Agarwal. The rest of the cast are adequate. Director Sussendhran has yet again proved he is a master story teller. He deserves all credit for keeping up the tempo of the film breezy till the every end. Yuvan Shankar Raja has come up with a couple of catchy tunes. On the flip side, the movie needs some urgent trimming. (more)

Worth a watch.

It's Karthi, Karthi and Karthi all through. Naan Mahaan Alla is a beautiful film; youthful, fresh and pragmatic. Every actor has come up with a realistic performance in typical Suseenthiran style! The on screen chemistry between the lead pair and the father-son genuine love is a treat to watch. Yuvanshankar Raja's melodious tunes fill your ears. The art work, sleek editing and brilliant camerawork need special mention.(more)
