The first half of the film drags like a lame horse that is running nowhere, while the second half the story moves faster, with some interesting episodes. Hats off in cowboy style to writer and director Chimbudevan for doing such good research and bringing about authenticity to his plot. But if only he had worked out a better script, it would have been a great fun ride. (more)

Revived with gusto -- Irumbu Kottai Murattu Singam

Locations are superb, dialogue tickles, names of people and places evoke a smile — Chimbu Devan revives a concoction that is almost forgotten in cinema here! The attention to detail, as far as costume and locations are concerned, is admirable. But in the process vital factors, viz., story and screenplay, have been given the go by. And that is the negating factor of this Western ‘Singam.' (more)

A neat adventure comedy for the summer!

Simbu Devan should certainly be applauded for giving the audience an all new experience and his hard work is palpable. On the flip-side, he does not engage the audience completely and loses his grip on them on and off. There are times when the film appears outright childish. The screen play meanders a while and there is a jump of genre here and there. All in all, IKMS is a clean, adventure, comedy which would appeal to children and young minded adults. (more)

Bulls Eye

Firstly, credit and two thumbs up to director Chimbudeven to make such a movie that needs a lot of effort and specially attention to detail. He has brought out a wholesome entertainer. The pace of the movie is thoroughly enjoyable. Songs are not at awry places and the screenplay does not have a lag. The movie scores marks in almost all departments. Minuses exist but not in large numbers. (more)

Simbudevan deserves special applause for having carefully selected appropriate actors for the characters in his story. Each excels in his/ her own way. Overall, IKMS has above average performances from the cast. Kudos to the entire team of Irumbukottai Murattu Singam. An adventure not to be missed, especially by families and kids!
